Corel VideoStudio Ultimate X9 Review
The Corel VideoStudio Ultimate X9 is the latest edition of Corel’s feature packed video editing application. It does everything it is intended to do and does it quite well. With lots of new and enhanced features, the software can definitely easily hold its own against competing video editing programs in the market.
Ultimate X9 is essentially an advanced version of the Pro X9. It has all the cool features of the latter–motion tracking, Multicam editing, improved audio control–plus, some more.

The key features you get with Corel VideoStudio Ultimate X9 are listed below.
6-Angle Multi Camera Editor
Both the Pro X9 and Ultimate X9 have a multi camera editing module where you can edit several clips simultaneously. The multi-view editing workspace allows you to produce a professionally-looking video by compiling footage from different cameras and different angles in the most convenient way possible.
It enables you to edit and synchronize clips as they play back all at the same time. In this mode, you can easily switch from one video or angle to another to capture a different element of the scene. What’s better with Ultimate X9 is you can edit up to six video clips at a time as opposed to four in Pro X9.
New Effects and Filters
Corel has done a great job embarking on a strategy that lets experts lead the improvements in every final software update. Thanks to the outside sourced add-ins, the company has managed to add features and enhanced existing ones without sacrificing its clear, clutter-free interface.
In the latest version of Ultimate and Pro, Corel introduced new filters, transitions, and effects from NewBlue–all of which are additions to the software’s already extensive stock tools. To make Ultimate X9 even more powerful, 11 bonus premium effect packs from Boris, Prodad, and NewBlue are integrated in the program.
The access to hundreds of additional presets, filters, effects, and other tools makes sure you have everything that you need from fixing petty production issues to improving your project with stunning effects.
MXF & HEVC Video Support
The latest VideoStudio Ultimate version now supports more formats. Now that the program is compatible with HEVC (H.265), users may be able to compress files 50 percent smaller. The improved compression makes this format ideal for keeping the sizes of the rendered videos lower, particularly when working with 4k projects.
Ultimate X9 also has the ability to import, edit, and export MXF (XAVC) content, a format that renders broadcast quality videos.
FastFlick Template Creation
The software comes with preset templates for FastFlick projects. Unlike the Instant Project templates, FastFlick templates automatically contract or expand so you can fit more or less photos and videos into the timeline. At the same time, you can customize the effects, backgrounds and text of the generic templates and save it for use in future video or photo compilations. With the added flexibility, you’ll be able to produce movies in minutes.
Audio Ducking & Normalizing
Similar to Pro X9, Ultimate X9 has enhanced audio balancing and controls. One improvement Corel made involves the Normalization effect. This audio feature automatically balances the volume level of selected clips in the timeline to ensure consistency across all the footage.
Previously, the option is only available before rendering a project. But with the new version, the effect can now be applied within the editing workspace at any time.
Another nifty upgrade to the elaborate audio control is the enhanced Audio Ducking. Audio Ducking is an effect that lowers the volume of one audio track in order to hear another better. For example, if your project has narration, applying Audio Ducking to your project will automatically decrease the background music or sound volume so that it would not overpower the voice-over.
Beyond altering Ultimate X9’s Ducking Level and Sensitivity settings, you also have the option to adjust the Decay and Attack settings to customize the audio’s lead in and lead out time for ducking.
